DAS, A2 & A1

Details

The DAS, A2 & A1 courses are designed to get you test ready and enable you to take the motorcycle tests to obtain a full motorcycle license.

The Tests

There are 2 parts to the motorcycle test. The first part is the Module 1 (Mod 1) and the secound part is the Module 2 (Mod 2). You must pass Mod 1 before you can take the Mod 2 test.

No matter which category license you are attempting (DAS, A2 or A1) the tests are exactly the same.

Mod 1

The Mod 1 test takes place at the test center and is off road, consisting of slow manoeuvres, emergency stop and avoidance.

Mod 2

The Mod 2 also know as the parctical test, takes place on the public roads. You will ride for around 35 minutes with an examiner following giving you instructions and directions.

The License Categories

Category A1

You need to be minimum age of 17.

It must be taken on a 120cc to 125cc bike which is capable of 55mph.

After obtaining this license you can ride a motorcycle up to 125cc.


This category removes the restrictions of the CBT.

You can remove the 'L' plates

You can take passengers

You can go on motorways

You never have to do a CBT every 2 years


Category A2

You need to be minimum age of 19.

The minimum size bike is 249cc or a bike that can be restricted to a maximum of 35kW.

You can ride a motorcycle that does not exceed or can be restricted to a maximum of 35kW after obtaining this license.


This category is for those who do not meet the required age for the A category but want to get a bigger bike.


Category A (DAS)

You need to be minimum age of 24.

The minimum size bike is 649cc.

You can ride any motorcycle after obtaining this license.


If you have held an A2 category license for 2 years you can take the A category tests. For example, if you pass the tests for an A2 license at 19. You can then do the A category tests at 21. Once passed you can remove the restrictor kit off your bike.

The 3 day course is for people who have already obtained the A2 license and wish to take the category A test.

Day 3:    Mod 2 test

4 Day Course

The 4 day course is for people who have a lot of experience riding a 125cc motorcycle.


Day 1:    Introduction & Mod 1 & Mod 2 training

Day 2:    Mod 1 & Mod 2 training

Day 3:    Mod 1 test & Mod 2 training

Day 4:    Mod 2 test

5 Day Course

The 5 day course is for people who have less experience riding a 125cc motorcycle.


Day 1:    Introduction & Mod 2 training

Day 2:    Mod 1 & Mod 2 training

Day 3:    Mod 1 & Mod 2 training

Day 4:    Mod 1 test & Mod 2 training

Day 5:    Mod 2 test
